Trip to Agapia and Varatec Monasteries, Neamt Citadel
Neamt, Citadel
One of the most representative historical monuments from Romania, the fortress of Neamt, was built from the order of Peter the 1st Musat (1375-1391). Along the centuries, the history of the fortress has been combined with the history of the whole Moldavia, for the fortress marked some important moments of this history, keeping on its walls the traces of the days of glory or those of sorrow of the past times.
Reopened to the public in 2009, after two years of restorations, the fortress is now an open-air museum with 21 rooms including the counsel and court room, arms room, jail and chapel, dinning room and supplies room.
