Humane Interfaces, User Centered Design, Color Scheme, Typography

As an overview of the methods and techniques which can be used throughout the user-centered design (UCD) process, a toolkit was created by: Bas Leurs, Peter Conradie, Joel Laumans, Rosalieke Verboom. We will be referring to it as it outlines the key concepts we will be studying.

Rules and principles defined by Jef Raskin in the The Humane Interface:

  • "When using a product to help you do a task, the product should only help and never distract you from the task."
  • "An interface should be reliable."
  • "An interface should be efficient and as simple as possible."
  • "The suitability of an interface can only be determined by testing."
  • "An interface should be pleasant in tone and visually attractive."
