The PROMISE Conference is organized by the Faculty of Computer Science of University Alexandru Ioan Cuza of Iasi and the Romanian Academy Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence, under the aegis of the Romanian Academy. It will take place at the University Alexandru Ioan Cuza of Iasi between March 29 and 31, 2010, as a satellite event of the 11th CICLing International Conference on Computational Linguistics and Intelligent Text Processing.

PROMISE main objectives are to gain new insights, as well as deep knowledge and perspectives on the domain of Computational Linguistics and related ones, with particular emphasis on the applications and possible extensions of research results to the Romanian language. The conference, the first of this kind in Romania, will bring together prominent scientists and researchers: "famous" Romanians from diaspora and from inside Romania, great "friends" of the Romanian language, and young researchers, such that a know-how transfer will be obtained by all participants. Next to the exchange of experience, during PROMISE conference and informal meetings all the participants will have the opportunity to enlarge or to participate in new research collaborations, teams, or projects.

The most representative lectures will be carefully selected by the Program Committee and they will be published in a volume edited by the Romanian Academy Publishing House, to constitute a reference book for all researchers in the Computational Linguistics domain, especially Romanians; through its cross-lingual and multilingual character, the volume will constitute a guide also for researches dedicated to other languages than Romanian.
